| In general, I do not favor lowering taxes as a means of economic growth, however, I think there might be other ways to encourage new business or business expansion in Virginia. We could, for example, agree to improve infrastructure to support certain industries. A "green" industry, like manufacturing solar arrays, would be welcome and might receive some infrastructure support. | |||

Common Core Standards are fine, but need some tweaking. There needs to be a standard established for financial literacy that includes everything from how to handle a bank account, future value predictions, how the stock market works, and how to save for the future. The standards need to adapt to students seeking specific career skills while in high school. Standards should should give them more time to master them. | |||

A religious group should not be compelled to perform a marriage, however. Civil marriage should be readily available to anyone. The "bathroom" issue is silly. How would it be enforced? Restrooms can be redesigned to offer privacy to any user and signage changed. | |||
| My priorities (1) high quality jobs (2) job training and education (3) overall quality of life. Quality jobs includes the idea that anyone who works deserves a living wage, funded by raising the minimum wage and pegging it to a cost of living index. Employers pay directly but could pass on expense to customers. Job training and education includes making them more available and pertinent to local employers. Fund this by soliciting financial support and apprenticeships from local business, taxes, and loans to students. Quality life issues (clean air, water, open space) would be funded by taxes, fees, and contributions. |
